The Stainless Steel 317 pipe fittings are produced from an alloy of about 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum with low carbon content. The increased molybdenum content provides SS 317 higher resistance to crevice corrosion and pitting than that of 316.
